25 Weeks!

Just wanted to do a quick baby bump check-in here before heading into the weekend!

Weeks: 25 today!

25 Weeks

Weight gain: Actually haven’t stepped on a scale in a few weeks. I have an OB appt next week, so I’ll provide an update on this next time!

What I’m wearing: My go-to Athleta stretchy tanks, elastic waist shorts from Old Navy, and flip flops or sandals!

Sleep: I’ve been waking up feeling more rested lately, which is awesome.

Miss anything? I could use a prenatal massage! I got quite a few of them when I was pregnant with Colin and they were WONDERFUL.

Baby movement: Lots of baby kicks and wriggles in the last week. Richard was finally able to see the kicks, now that they are strong enough to be visible on the outside!

Currently craving: Super intense flavors. Poke bowls (see title picture) and açaí bowls. And cheese. And ice cream. Mmm…

Annoyances and symptoms: Heartburn.

Belly button: Still an innie, but very shallow…

Sleepy

Emotions: Reading through some of my favorite bloggers’ birth stories has me a bit emotional and wondering how Colin will adjust to being a big brother. I’m almost glad that he will still be too young to fully grasp the concept for a little while.

Best moment in the last week: Watching Colin laugh hysterically during his new favorite game of “pull Daddy’s glasses off his face”. And hearing his little voice. He is trying so hard to repeat words now. His favorite words are doggy, kitty (sounds like “titty”), hungry, moon, bubbles, cheese, and truck.

Smiley Boy

Looking forward to: Hearing little baby boy’s heartbeat at my OB appt on Wednesday.

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

We’re Expecting Again!

Whew, what a whirlwind the last few months have been!

Colin celebrated his first birthday — anddddddd I’m expecting again!

Yep, we’re crazy.

I know.

Baby BOY number two is due December 7th and I am overjoyed at the thought of having a snugly newborn in my arms during those cold, but oh-so festive, winter months. Fingers crossed we don’t have another Christmas where everyone gets sick, though. Ugh.

I thought I’d start checking-in on here to share pregnancy updates for those who want to follow along! (This week’s bump photo isn’t a great one, guys. A selfie in the bathroom will have to suffice when I’ve got a toddler to chase around!)

23 Weeks

Weeks: 23

Weight gain: 12-15 lbs so far (though it definitely feels like more…)

What I’m wearing: Comfy tanks, elastic waist shorts (Old Navy!), and sandals! So ready for summertime in NC to end.

Sleep: I’ve been sleeping well, aside from getting up to pee 2-3 times per night. Colin wakes up around 6-6:30am, so obviously I wish he’d sleep a bit later!

Miss anything? I miss having loads of energy, but I’m certainly feeling more energized than I did a month ago. Being pregnant while taking care of a toddler leaves me essentially no downtime. (Yes, Colin is napping right now!)

Baby movement: Haven’t felt those definitive cute hiccups yet, but this little boy is definitely most active first thing in the morning!

Currently craving: Mexican food.

Annoyances and symptoms: Nighttime heartburn and the NC heat/humidity!

Belly button: Still an innie, but I’m convinced it may pop out this time. Weird.

Emotions: I find myself daydreaming of baby’s arrival, but I think what I’m actually craving is fall and winter weather. When I stop and think about our future changing from a family of three to a family of four in a few short months, I do feel pangs of sadness. I’ve heard too many stories of firstborns “growing up overnight” when a new baby arrives. I want Colin to be my little baby forever.

Ginger curls

Best moment in the last week: Spending time with new friends. We have a couple neighborhood friends who are also expecting their second babies, so it’s been really fun to get together and swap worries, laughs, and advice.

Looking forward to: A haircut on Saturday! Hey, when you’re a mom to a toddler, it’s the little things.

Leave a comment if you’d like me to include anything else in these updates! I’m looking forward to sharing this journey with you for the second time!

After the Rain

The storms have been frequent and harsh around here lately. The hot and humid weather has returned, too, which makes venturing outside even more unbearable. The plants on our front porch and patio are soaking up every drop of water and each ray of sun, though!

And Richard got us a snazzy new hook for our bird feeder!

Here’s hoping we get a cold-front soon… I am ready for crisp fall air!

Wedding: Bachelorette Weekend

Countdown to “I do.” – 131 days!

Alright, I figured it was time to share a handful of memories from my bachelorette weekend on Topsail Island!

All in all, it was a fabulous time full of sun, finding shark teeth, hilarious photos, sandy shorts, drinks, running in and out of the ocean at 1am, girl talk, and plenty of laughs!

Shades

Banana

Koozie

Laughs

Taking a dip

Cheers!

A huge THANK YOU to my amazing sister and maid of honor Kara, my bridesmaids Rachel, Sarah, and Jasmin, and my wonderful friends Lesley and Bethany for making my bachelorette weekend one to remember forever (even if it’s just through the photographs!)

A Trip to Garden Supply Co.

I really can’t believe that I am just now getting around to visiting Cary’s own Garden Supply Company. This fantastic combination nursery / home decor / antique shop is only 10 minutes from home!

I planned a trip last week because one by one, the recent storms destroyed my front porch terra cotta pots, leaving the woeful plants sitting as naked little root balls to simply dry out in the sun.

Sidenote, “naked little root balls” looks really silly and inappropriate when its typed out.

So, I bought plastic “terra cotta” pots.

Yep, I know.

You’re thinking, “That is so cheap and tacky.”

Honestly, I can’t tell the difference from the road. Plus, REAL terra cotta pots absorb water and leave ugly “water lines” halfway down the pot! Sorry guys, plastic from here on out.

Anyways, here are some other fun treasures that I picked up from the more thrifty / home decor side of the shop!

Treasures

Hanging candles

Clock

Gold lantern

Dip-dye vase

As you can see, I’ve already found a spot for the beautiful dip-dye vase. It’s holding a silk flower arrangement in the guest room – my favorite room in our home!

The hanging votives will be beautiful around the back patio during a fall get-together with friends, once the mosquitos have dissipated!

As for the mirrored gold lantern, I’m thinking that it will stay inside, and only be brought outside for events as well. I quite like it on the buffet in the dining room.

And of course, the “vintage” clock needs to live somewhere near the teal living room! Even though it’s fake vintage, I couldn’t pass it up when I noticed that the center reads, “Designed in England”. Too cute!

What are your favorite garden / antique shops in your area? What was your best find?

I can’t wait to go back to Garden Supply Co. and buy some more of their beautiful vases. Loving the dip-dye look!
