36 Weeks!

I am sitting here trying to figure out how TOMORROW marks a mere 3 weeks until we meet our new baby boy — that is, unless he decides to arrive before the scheduled Cesarean! I have to keep reminding myself to slow down and enjoy these sweet moments with Colin. He’s been a bit more clingy / snuggly / needy lately… and I am taking every opportunity to hold and cuddle him, since I won’t be able to hold or pick him up for a little while post-surgery. He’s usually not very snugly, so this has been an unexpected (and well-timed) treat.

Weeks: 36

36 Weeks

Weight gain: 20-22 lbs

What I’m wearing: Do pajamas count? Seriously, if I’m not leaving the house, I will wear comfy pjs all day long. Who cares?! For days where I must be out and about, I’ve been wearing a pair of maternity leggings (pretty much on repeat) from A Pea in the Pod as well as occasionally squeezing into my cute designer maternity skinny jeans! I’ve worn the Liz Lange and Ingrid & Isabel maternity dresses from Target with boots a few times lately, too.

Sleep: The last couple of weeks have been a little better. I’m getting up roughly 3-4 times per night to pee, but I bought a new pillow, and LOVE IT. I also took our heavy duvet off (I know, this seems strange, since it’s started to get cold in NC…) and swapped it for this quilt. It’s white, lighter, and easier to launder. I love a beautiful fluffy duvet as much as the next person… but I see lots of crumbs, coffee drips, and milk spills in my near future. And if you have a duvet with a cover, you know how much of a pain it can be to launder and put back on. Especially for our king bed. THOSE DAMN TIES IN THE CORNERS UGHHH. This quilt can be washed and dried MUCH faster!

Miss anything? I miss running. This weather (night temperatures getting down into the 20s) is my love language. I’m also ready to enjoy some good dark beers. Winter is my jam.

Baby movement: SO much movement! Kicks, squirms, wriggles, hiccups… It feels like this baby is doing somersaults in there sometimes.

Currently craving: Hummus and naan bread, salads, ice cream, porters… ha!

Annoyances and symptoms: The Zantac helps IMMENSELY, but I still get the occasional heartburn from spicy food. Lower back pain.

Belly button: Kinda innie / almost just flat?

Emotions: Too busy cleaning, purging, organizing to even get emotional about anything! So many little things that I’d like to get done before baby arrives on 12/1!

Best moment in the last week: Colin now says his first multi-word phrase! He has a little doll and he “feeds” the doll a bottle, pats the doll’s belly, and says “Night night, baby”. MELTS MY HEART.

Looking forward to: A little neighborhood baby “sprinkle” happening on Sunday!

Stay warm, my friends!

25 Weeks!

Just wanted to do a quick baby bump check-in here before heading into the weekend!

Weeks: 25 today!

25 Weeks

Weight gain: Actually haven’t stepped on a scale in a few weeks. I have an OB appt next week, so I’ll provide an update on this next time!

What I’m wearing: My go-to Athleta stretchy tanks, elastic waist shorts from Old Navy, and flip flops or sandals!

Sleep: I’ve been waking up feeling more rested lately, which is awesome.

Miss anything? I could use a prenatal massage! I got quite a few of them when I was pregnant with Colin and they were WONDERFUL.

Baby movement: Lots of baby kicks and wriggles in the last week. Richard was finally able to see the kicks, now that they are strong enough to be visible on the outside!

Currently craving: Super intense flavors. Poke bowls (see title picture) and açaí bowls. And cheese. And ice cream. Mmm…

Annoyances and symptoms: Heartburn.

Belly button: Still an innie, but very shallow…

Sleepy

Emotions: Reading through some of my favorite bloggers’ birth stories has me a bit emotional and wondering how Colin will adjust to being a big brother. I’m almost glad that he will still be too young to fully grasp the concept for a little while.

Best moment in the last week: Watching Colin laugh hysterically during his new favorite game of “pull Daddy’s glasses off his face”. And hearing his little voice. He is trying so hard to repeat words now. His favorite words are doggy, kitty (sounds like “titty”), hungry, moon, bubbles, cheese, and truck.

Smiley Boy

Looking forward to: Hearing little baby boy’s heartbeat at my OB appt on Wednesday.

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

We’re Expecting Again!

Whew, what a whirlwind the last few months have been!

Colin celebrated his first birthday — anddddddd I’m expecting again!

Yep, we’re crazy.

I know.

Baby BOY number two is due December 7th and I am overjoyed at the thought of having a snugly newborn in my arms during those cold, but oh-so festive, winter months. Fingers crossed we don’t have another Christmas where everyone gets sick, though. Ugh.

I thought I’d start checking-in on here to share pregnancy updates for those who want to follow along! (This week’s bump photo isn’t a great one, guys. A selfie in the bathroom will have to suffice when I’ve got a toddler to chase around!)

23 Weeks

Weeks: 23

Weight gain: 12-15 lbs so far (though it definitely feels like more…)

What I’m wearing: Comfy tanks, elastic waist shorts (Old Navy!), and sandals! So ready for summertime in NC to end.

Sleep: I’ve been sleeping well, aside from getting up to pee 2-3 times per night. Colin wakes up around 6-6:30am, so obviously I wish he’d sleep a bit later!

Miss anything? I miss having loads of energy, but I’m certainly feeling more energized than I did a month ago. Being pregnant while taking care of a toddler leaves me essentially no downtime. (Yes, Colin is napping right now!)

Baby movement: Haven’t felt those definitive cute hiccups yet, but this little boy is definitely most active first thing in the morning!

Currently craving: Mexican food.

Annoyances and symptoms: Nighttime heartburn and the NC heat/humidity!

Belly button: Still an innie, but I’m convinced it may pop out this time. Weird.

Emotions: I find myself daydreaming of baby’s arrival, but I think what I’m actually craving is fall and winter weather. When I stop and think about our future changing from a family of three to a family of four in a few short months, I do feel pangs of sadness. I’ve heard too many stories of firstborns “growing up overnight” when a new baby arrives. I want Colin to be my little baby forever.

Ginger curls

Best moment in the last week: Spending time with new friends. We have a couple neighborhood friends who are also expecting their second babies, so it’s been really fun to get together and swap worries, laughs, and advice.

Looking forward to: A haircut on Saturday! Hey, when you’re a mom to a toddler, it’s the little things.

Leave a comment if you’d like me to include anything else in these updates! I’m looking forward to sharing this journey with you for the second time!
