Wedding: More Details

Countdown to “I do.” – 157 days!

It pretty amazing how much planning goes into a modern-day wedding.

The dress, the flowers, the cake, the bridal party attire, the music, the honeymoon… Sure, all of these things come to mind right away.

I’m currently in the process of finalizing the bridal party attire (dresses have been picked out, now we’re onto shoes!), though Richard and I have yet to look at menswear for the guys. We will likely visit Men’s Wearhouse in the next couple of weeks to begin narrowing down colors and styles. I’m imagining grey suits and vests, black ties, and black shoes — there will likely be a post ALL about formal menswear when those decisions need to be made.

On top of bridesmaids clothing, I am compiling our wedding invitations!

The suite was designed by Ellie Snow, the stationery mastermind behind Hello Tenfold out of Durham, NC.

And no, you will NOT get a sneak-peek of the invitations. The guests need to see for themselves!

So far, putting together these gorgeous invitations has been my absolute favorite part of wedding-planning. Like, more fun than I had picking out my dress.

Is that weird?

Meh, oh well.

Speaking of dress, it’s arrived! It will need some pretty major alterations, which will begin late August or early September. My bridal portrait shoot has been booked for November 10th, so as long as I have my perfect-fitting dress by then!

Anyways, back to the invitations. We purchased some stunning vintage stamps from Sam at Pack and Post and the invitations will likely be mailed out before the end of the month!

In other news, we’re headed to an engagement party on Saturday for our friends Ivy and Steve! Can’t wait to celebrate with them.

Here’s hoping the bad weather goes away before the weekend!

Wedding: The Details

Countdown to “I do.” – 238 days!

Richard and I spent a good portion of yesterday at PeakFest, an annual downtown Apex celebration including food, local vendors, and live music. The weather was absolutely beautiful. We’ve gotten lucky this weekend, because today is gorgeous, too!

We ventured into Antiques on Salem Street to poke around and look for any gems that may be hiding amongst the massive amount of stuff / junk / dusty memorabilia. I found the most beautiful pair of champagne coupe glasses and HAD to have them. When we got to the counter, the owner showed us a matching pitcher and 4 matching salad plates — all equally gorgeous.

We bought them all.

Each piece needed a soapy wash, so here are some “before” and “after” pictures that I took today.

Before being cleaned…

If you remember, I shared a small collage of photos in the post about A Color Palette — some of those photos showed gold-rimmed dinnerware and glassware, so this was an amazing find!

For our wedding, we plan on using the champagne glasses for the two of us and two of the salad plates for our wedding cake plates!

I couldn’t be more excited.

Busy Days and Easy Pizza

Life has been so busy lately that I honestly feel like I can’t even take a moment to stop and catch my breath.

Richard’s Mum (love saying that) arrives on Monday, and I feel like there are still 87562481 things that I’d like to get done around the house before she gets here! I know I shouldn’t stress over it — she’s family now — but (ask Richard) I just love playing host way too much! I love arranging things in a bedroom, making a guest’s bed look what I like to call “hotel-style”, putting little toiletries out for a guest, serving dinner and drinks, the works! I just feel unprepared because of how crazy my work life has been.

I have gotten another thing checked off the wedding to-do list, though — I have decided on a bridesmaid dress for my ladies! Not going to share on here, though. It’s gotta be a surprise, folks! Guess you’ll just have to wait for the wedding photos to come out this winter, ha!

I made my favorite super-simple naan bread pizza for dinner tonight. Yep. I didn’t make the dough OR the sauce.

Go on, judge all you want.

The whole thing literally took me 20 minutes, including baking time.

See, now you are all like, “Whaaat? Not even gonna judge her for being so lazy.”

Throw it all together. Put it in the oven at 350 degrees. Check on it after about 10 minutes. Turn the broiler on high and stick around to watch for the cheese to get all bubbly and golden brown in some spots. This will probably only take 3-4 minutes.

And BAM.

Comes out looking like the picture at the top of this post, kitty paws not included. Also, I know you are loving that it looks like cafeteria pizza.

By the way, check out this tasty recipe for Banana Chocolate Chip Bread — I made it on Monday night and IT’S ALREADY GONE.

The last two pieces, before they were destroyed by Richard and I…

Anyways, I hope this week is treating you well. I could use a bubble bath. Or another glass of Pinot. Cheers!

Wedding: A Theme

Countdown to “I do.” – 268 days!

Before getting engaged, I knew very little about what I wanted my wedding to look like. I wasn’t one of those little girls with a scrapbook brimming with magazine clippings of dresses and bouquets or hand-sketched plans for a variety of seating charts…

What would my wedding “theme” be?

I honestly didn’t even know that weddings had “themes”.

I guess I thought that you just picked the colors you like, picked the music you like, and invited the people you like… and kinda threw it all together.

However, now that I am planning my own wedding, I see that those things are the theme. More than likely, the different items and aspects that one likes, essentially, one’s “taste”, will coincide and overlap in some way.

Which leads me to my next point — I hope that whatever I choose, those small overlaps (as minuscule as some of the details may be) will make the event feel complete.

When I think of my dream wedding, I think of words like:

I guess we’ll see where that leads me!

Wedding: A Color Palette

Countdown to “I do.” – 278 days!

As some of you know, I love Pinterest. It’s a great tool for gathering little snippets of inspiration — everything from garden ideas to vacation spots to wedding dresses.

Clearly, you can see where this is headed.

For your visual enjoyment, here’s some PINspiration that I’ve been loving lately.

It’s pretty evident that I’m thinking lots of blush pink, soft ivory, sparkly gold, and SOME shade of green (or maybe a few shades?) for our December wedding. It’s all so exciting!

I’d love to hear your thoughts!
