32 Weeks!

The last few weeks have flown by and it’s difficult for me to even wrap my head around the fact that there are less than two months until we meet baby boy #2! We are getting out and about more lately, as the weather is finally cooling down. Fall means even more park dates, story time at the local library, and getting lots of fresh air before bedtime on the beautiful neighborhood lawn (the “commons”) in front of our house. I’ve included some photos from our little Saturday trip to the Apex Farmers Market – they had an adorable fall festival complete with pumpkins, apple cider, and some great local vendors!

Weeks: 32

32 weeks

Weight gain: 14-16 lbs.

What I’m wearing: Maternity shorts on warm days and maternity jeans or sweatpants on cooler days. I live in my stretchy Athleta tanks (underneath shirts as an extra layer). I think I’ll finally be able to start wearing my boots this week! I’ve been wearing my TOMS, since they are easy to slip on (no bending down!)

Fall festival

Sleep: This baby is super active RIGHT when I’m trying to fall asleep… so that hasn’t been so great. Between getting up to pee multiple times per night AND having trouble falling asleep… you get the idea.

Rich

Miss anything? I definitely feel huge. Like, I feel like I felt when I was 41 weeks pregnant with Colin. So I’m not excited about getting even bigger in the next few weeks, haha! I guess I miss being more active and flexible!

Baby movement: TONS. Especially in the morning and evening. Lots of hiccups now, too.

Mama and Colin

Currently craving: Cantaloupe, prosciutto (yeah, I’m being a bad pescetarian), eggs, and ice cream.

Annoyances and symptoms: Zantac has REALLY helped my heartburn situation. I rarely need to take Tums at night anymore, so that’s awesome. (Thanks, Courtney!) My lower back definitely aches in the evenings and I find it really difficult to get comfortable for sleeping.

Belly button: Still an innie, but very shallow…

Caboose

Caboose 2

Emotions: It’s starting to REALLY sink in. Like, I am realizing that I need to take full advantage of these beautiful fall days with Colin, because I want to soak up every second that I have with just him!

Best moment in the last week: We scheduled the Cesarean! Baby boy will be making his arrival (unless he shocks us all and decides to come early) on December 1st!

Looking forward to: Celebrating Richard’s birthday this weekend — even if it’s just with a quick little family outing!

I hope that you’re having a lovely October so far!

27 Weeks!

It’s a dreary and rainy day here in Chapel Hill, so I figured it was the perfect time to share a little bump update!

Weeks: 27 (where did this basketball come from?!)

27 weeks

Weight gain: Still in the 12-15 lbs range.

What I’m wearing: It’s officially feeling like fall here (finally), so I’ve been wearing my go-to stretchy Athleta tanks underneath shirts for an extra layer. I also splurged and bought two pairs of designer maternity jeans, because I am kind of over wearing leggings every. single. day. I’ve been wearing my TOMS shoes (not chilly enough for boots yet) and sandals on warmer days.

Hotel in Asheville

Sleep: We’ve had the windows open for about a week now, and that cool and crisp air is definitely helping my sleep and giving me that “refreshed” feeling in the morning.

Colin and I

Miss anything? This weather has me wanting to stock up on all of the tasty porters and stouts! Ugh!

Baby movement: Lots and lots of kicks and wiggles.

Currently craving: Salads, believe it or not. And cheese and chocolate, so I guess those cancel out the salads…?

Colin is also a fan of sweets...

Colin is also a fan of sweets…

Annoyances and symptoms: Heartburn and achy feet.

Belly button: Still an innie, but very shallow…

Colin's face is everything in this photo.

Colin’s face is everything in this photo.

Emotions: I had a nightmare last night that my car was stolen WITH COLIN STILL INSIDE. So yeah. That was terrifying. Anyone care to analyze that dream?!

Best moment in the last week: We snuck away for an impromptu weekend in Asheville as a family of three – and it was a blast!

Looking forward to: More beautiful fall weather!

Anyone have fun plans this season? Fall is my absolute favorite time to travel!

25 Weeks!

Just wanted to do a quick baby bump check-in here before heading into the weekend!

Weeks: 25 today!

25 Weeks

Weight gain: Actually haven’t stepped on a scale in a few weeks. I have an OB appt next week, so I’ll provide an update on this next time!

What I’m wearing: My go-to Athleta stretchy tanks, elastic waist shorts from Old Navy, and flip flops or sandals!

Sleep: I’ve been waking up feeling more rested lately, which is awesome.

Miss anything? I could use a prenatal massage! I got quite a few of them when I was pregnant with Colin and they were WONDERFUL.

Baby movement: Lots of baby kicks and wriggles in the last week. Richard was finally able to see the kicks, now that they are strong enough to be visible on the outside!

Currently craving: Super intense flavors. Poke bowls (see title picture) and açaí bowls. And cheese. And ice cream. Mmm…

Annoyances and symptoms: Heartburn.

Belly button: Still an innie, but very shallow…

Sleepy

Emotions: Reading through some of my favorite bloggers’ birth stories has me a bit emotional and wondering how Colin will adjust to being a big brother. I’m almost glad that he will still be too young to fully grasp the concept for a little while.

Best moment in the last week: Watching Colin laugh hysterically during his new favorite game of “pull Daddy’s glasses off his face”. And hearing his little voice. He is trying so hard to repeat words now. His favorite words are doggy, kitty (sounds like “titty”), hungry, moon, bubbles, cheese, and truck.

Smiley Boy

Looking forward to: Hearing little baby boy’s heartbeat at my OB appt on Wednesday.

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

We’re Expecting Again!

Whew, what a whirlwind the last few months have been!

Colin celebrated his first birthday — anddddddd I’m expecting again!

Yep, we’re crazy.

I know.

Baby BOY number two is due December 7th and I am overjoyed at the thought of having a snugly newborn in my arms during those cold, but oh-so festive, winter months. Fingers crossed we don’t have another Christmas where everyone gets sick, though. Ugh.

I thought I’d start checking-in on here to share pregnancy updates for those who want to follow along! (This week’s bump photo isn’t a great one, guys. A selfie in the bathroom will have to suffice when I’ve got a toddler to chase around!)

23 Weeks

Weeks: 23

Weight gain: 12-15 lbs so far (though it definitely feels like more…)

What I’m wearing: Comfy tanks, elastic waist shorts (Old Navy!), and sandals! So ready for summertime in NC to end.

Sleep: I’ve been sleeping well, aside from getting up to pee 2-3 times per night. Colin wakes up around 6-6:30am, so obviously I wish he’d sleep a bit later!

Miss anything? I miss having loads of energy, but I’m certainly feeling more energized than I did a month ago. Being pregnant while taking care of a toddler leaves me essentially no downtime. (Yes, Colin is napping right now!)

Baby movement: Haven’t felt those definitive cute hiccups yet, but this little boy is definitely most active first thing in the morning!

Currently craving: Mexican food.

Annoyances and symptoms: Nighttime heartburn and the NC heat/humidity!

Belly button: Still an innie, but I’m convinced it may pop out this time. Weird.

Emotions: I find myself daydreaming of baby’s arrival, but I think what I’m actually craving is fall and winter weather. When I stop and think about our future changing from a family of three to a family of four in a few short months, I do feel pangs of sadness. I’ve heard too many stories of firstborns “growing up overnight” when a new baby arrives. I want Colin to be my little baby forever.

Ginger curls

Best moment in the last week: Spending time with new friends. We have a couple neighborhood friends who are also expecting their second babies, so it’s been really fun to get together and swap worries, laughs, and advice.

Looking forward to: A haircut on Saturday! Hey, when you’re a mom to a toddler, it’s the little things.

Leave a comment if you’d like me to include anything else in these updates! I’m looking forward to sharing this journey with you for the second time!

Rain, Rain, Go Away…

Colin woke up too early this morning. Well, too early for me. Richard had actually just woken up, so I selfishly put him on morning baby duty, so that I could get a few more minutes of shut-eye. I somehow fell back asleep, even dreamed a little, and woke up feeling ever-so-slightly more refreshed.

I came downstairs and took over, so that Richard could leave for work. Colin happily snacked on little teething puffs while I made myself a cup of coffee. Then, I prepared Colin’s oatmeal breakfast. In the middle of me feeding him, I heard an unpleasant sound. A that-wasn’t-just-a-loud-fart sound. A few minutes later, he’s in the bathtub getting hosed off. Unpleasant, indeed. Lovely start to the morning.

You guys, at this point, it’s not even 8am.

He gets cleaned up and re-dressed. We head back downstairs to resume breakfast and much-needed coffee. We watch a little bit of television before heading up to play in his room. By 8:30am, he’s already sleepy again, since he woke up so early.

I put him down for a nap. As I’m leaving his room, I hear a little “drip… drip… drip…” sound echoing from the hallway. Did I leave the faucet on in the bathroom? Or maybe the tub faucet, from his bath? No, it sounds much closer. It’s coming from the attic. Water is dripping into the loft from the little attic door in the ceiling.

Great.

A leak.

I put a cheap bin under the leak and immediately get annoyed by the now-loud “PANG… PANG… PANG” sound, as the drips collect in the plastic trashcan.

Welp, that will probably keep Colin up.

I text Richard in a panic. He’s in a meeting, but calls me as soon as he gets out. Whew, he’s on his way home.

I get lucky, and Colin falls asleep. Time to indulge in a little pre-shower face mask relaxation. Ahh, it’s the little things. Alright, time to get serious. If there is a water issue, I better squeeze in a quick shower. Richard arrives shortly after my shower. WHEW.

He scopes out the situation, and it’s a water heater issue. He calls a guy.

My grandparents, mom, and sister all come over (this get-together was planned a few days ago, and I wasn’t going to cancel for a small leak!) and we have a wonderful time playing with Colin, drinking coffee, eating cake, and just catching up.

I finally got a moment to sit down and right this post – as Richard and the water heater guy are upstairs tip-toeing around Colin’s afternoon nap.

I feel like I just woke up, you guys.

And it’s 3:30pm.

Aaaaaaaaaaand this week’s Scribble Picnic theme is “Umbrella”. HOW FITTING! My scribbled umbrellas are paired with a quote from The Great Gatsby, a bit of sunshine and hope after a rainstorm. After a night of rain, an unexpected morning bath for Colin, a (quite relaxing) shower for me, and a LEAKING CEILING, my morning has been full of rain. Sounds like this theme was more of a premonition… Hmm…

I hope your morning was much less eventful than mine!
