Last week, Richard and I enjoyed two wonderfully relaxing evenings in Asheville, NC. We stayed at our favorite B&B, the Rankin House Inn — and so enjoyed having a chat and catching up with innkeeper Scott again.

With me now being essentially 8 months pregnant, our trip was the low-key version of our typical Asheville shenanigans. We still got plenty of walking in, but we stuck to 2 breweries (as opposed to our usual 8 or so), a good bit of shopping, great views, one dinner requiring a reservation (Cúrate, of course!), and a show at Asheville Community Theatre.

We finally discovered Screen Door Antiques, which was highly recommended by my grandmother!  We picked up a few odds and ends, including a beautiful bunch of dried lavender, a holiday reindeer made of reclaimed wood, and a unique abstract painting for the nursery!

And this dish is always my favorite, as it brings me back to Galicia!  "Pulpo a la gallega" -- Galician-style octopus served warm with sea salt, olive oil, Spanish paprika, and yukon gold potato purée.

We spent a couple of hours at the Omni Grove Park Inn.  It was lovely to enjoy a latte while taking in the views!

It was a gorgeous day!  I also did some shopping at Grove Park Inn's boutique, Cloth!

It was lovely to have some time together, just the two of us, in one of our favorite places, before baby comes and shakes our lives up! And if society says it’s a “babymoon”, so be it.
