Updates and BIG News!

Let’s get one thing straight.

Being away from my blog for this long makes me sad. Even if I’m the only one reading it. Which, at this rate, is entirely likely.

Here’s the snapshot version of what’s happened since my last check-in (in order of occurrence):

– We found out that I’M PREGNANT! (more on this later, duh)
– We vacationed in Cape Cod
– We moved from Apex to Chapel Hill
– We vacationed in Maine
– Richard turned a different age (see babe, I love you!)
– We passed out candy on Halloween at our new house (too exciting not to share, as I love Halloween)
– I turned 26
– We spent Thanksgiving and Christmas in NC with my family
– We celebrated our one year wedding anniversary
– We rang in 2016 with great friends

All of that brings us to today!

Yes, we found out in early August that we are expecting a little baby, which was SO EXCITING! And kind of terrifying, but mostly exciting. Apparently I’ve gotten really good at torturing myself by waiting an unnecessary length of time for surprises, because after the OB anatomy ultrasound in early December, Richard and I chose to wait an extra 3 weeks to find out the gender of this little one on Christmas morning. If you haven’t already seen it, you can watch our gender reveal video here.

What’s crazy is that I’m now only a few weeks shy of entering the third trimester (I’m currently 25 weeks), so I’ve already experienced all of the SUPER FUN first trimester symptoms (nausea, complete and utter exhaustion, dizziness, and pretty much feeling hungover 24/7 without the fun of actually getting drunk). Yeah, it’s all so glamourous.

So, nesting for our little boy’s arrival has begun. The nursery is coming together nicely, and since we aren’t painting, there isn’t much left to do! Which is a relief. Here are a few snaps of the nursery progress…

And here’s what I’m looking like lately…

24 weeks

That, by the way, is my “yep, there’s definitely a baby in there” face.

Let’s just go ahead and say that this whole blogging thing is my new year’s resolution. Well, that and having a baby. Don’t forget to follow me on Instagram @beetandbaguette for more bump/food/home/nesting updates (see sidebar on the right).

It feels good to be back!

  1. OK trying again dear – hopefully Comments will work this time!
As mentioned – love the selfie of you and ‘bump’.
The chairs are great – especially loving the Queen Anne’s Lace upholstery fabric – where did you find that one?

Love Paddington Bear of course, doesn’t everyone British or otherwise – love all bears even those big dangerous Russian ones I photographed in Kamchatka. . . . . . from a distance of course!

Love you – stay well and be happy.

I found the chair from Target online, of all places! Really loving the greys and whites for the nursery — very soothing. I’m hoping to get another one of these chairs (different fabric, they offer loads of fabric choices online) for our master bedroom. Affordable, comfortable, and very cute! xo

  2. Yeah! Working OK now. OXOX

    Hi Cassie!

I absolutely missed your blog and I’m glad you’re back!
You look stunning, by the way!

  4. Congratulations on your baby boy!! how absolutely wonderful and exciting for you! Haha, in fact I even teared up watching the video and waiting to find the results right along with you, so to speak!

By the way, I totally love Paddington Bear. for some reason though I never thought to give him to my own children. My wife loves him though. If you haven’t see the recent movie, do. It is precious, magical even.

Finally, I did want to say one more thing, I ABSOLUTELY LOVE, L-O-V-E your blog name! how perfectly sounding is that?! And I don;t even like beets, no less. to too funny.

You have a wonderful sense of style. I just know your home will be lovely for you both and your precious children. no doubt the creche room will be utterly darling, I’m quite sure.

    Take care.

    • My apologies for all the typos. Whilst I do actually spell very well, one woudl never know it from my typing which has A LOT to be desired. It’s quite funny, actually — people often say that my typing sounds so impressive, like I’m hammering out the letters at a furious pace then they see all the mistakes and go, oh! Oh dear me. You get the gist anyway. If it was my own post, I would try that bit harder, mind you, for the sake of other readers. Lol.
