Rekindling Creativity

I painted today.

Yep. Like, for fun.

At least it’s supposed to be fun, until you do one little thing that seems to ruin the entire painting and you have to find a way to fix said error.

Anyways, I picked up some acrylic paint, new brushes, sturdy painting papers, and a new palette. Scary thing is, I haven’t painted (aside from the walls in our house) since my senior art exhibition at Meredith College back in 2011!

For YOUR fun, here are some progress photos.

It’s certainly not finished, but I’m hoping to complete it over the weekend.

I don’t absolutely hate it.

So far, only a minor hatred.

Either way, the ACT of painting felt good!

Eek, we’ll see how it goes.

  1. Wow! I can’t believe you did all that in a day! What is It that you ended up not liking? I kinda liked the second to the last pic the best. The detail in the very last one got a little messy! Is that what you think as well?

Yeah, the style definitely shifted in the last picture, but I do think it’s going more in the direction that I’m aiming for! But hey, we’ll see! LOL

  2. Wow, Cassie! If I picked up acrylic’s and painted? Well, least just say it would be very very messy indeed. Very impressed. A woman of many talents!

I’m sure you wouldn’t be that bad! It’s definitely a weird feeling to be painting again, but I’m going to work on not judging my artwork too quickly — and just try to “go with the flow”, ha! Thank you so much 🙂 xx

  3. OK, this is great news to see you painting other than walls!!!
I just may have to commission a piece for our cottage – but I also need to get some more walls of my own to make space for hanging, haha!

I loved seeing the steps from initial pencil sketch to almost finished piece. I bet this was from a photo you took in Maine last year – am I correct? It’s very atmospheric – I love it.

Let’s get together soon – life is throwing curves here.
    Love and hugs xoxoxox

Yep, you’re correct! It’s from a photo that we took of Portland Head Lighthouse! I’d love to get together soon — I am working three overnight shifts in a row, but I’m free on Wednesday afternoon, Thursday daytime, and Friday all day. I know Grandpa wants to go to a few of the breweries sometime, too, so we still need to make that happen with Mom, Dad, and Rich! xoxo
