Amidst the painting and cleaning chaos going on at our house this weekend, today is my sister’s 18th birthday!

Happy birthday, Kara! I’m so lucky to have such a caring, smart, and beautiful baby sister. And I’m thrilled that she’s going to be my Maid of Honor!

Here’s a quick visual recap of the weekend so far…

We took Kara to Fearrington on Friday evening.  We showed her the wedding ceremony and reception venues, the gardens, the restaurants, and everything else that the beautiful property has to offer -- the Beltie cows included!  Before bringing Kara along, Fearrington had been a little hideaway that only Richard and I had been to -- even my parents haven't been yet!  We had a lot of fun listening to the live folk music and eating delicious local cheeses.

The three of us spent the evening listening to live folk music, eating delicious local cheeses, and devouring an amazing s’mores dessert.

The current project.  These bookcases (we have a pair) will be white with yellow shelf-backs.

For dinner, Kara picked Fiction Kitchen in downtown Raleigh.  It's a vegan/vegetarian restaurant, that began as a kickstarter project -- how cool is that?!  I got the vegan nori rolls with sashimi-style tofu and a mango chutney.  Delicious!
