How is it already March? Summer is truly going to be here before we know it! With it only being March 4th, I feel pretty accomplished so far. On Saturday, Richard and I ran in the competitive Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure 5K in Wilmington on Saturday.
It was unique to be a part of Komen history, if you will, considering it was Wilmington’s first time hosting the race. I’m not a runner by any means, and I completed the 3.1 miles in exactly 31 minutes, so I am not ashamed of my 10 min/mile pace. I never stopped to walk!

To start the day off, we woke up at 4am, arrived in Wilmington by 7:30, ran the 5K at 8:30, and were back in Apex by lunchtime. We were in desperate need of carbs and caffeine (new blog title?) and decided to stop at Panera on our way home. We tried their new Mediterranean Egg White Breakfast Sandwich (21 grams of protein!) — Delicious! Healthy and filling. Oh, and we finished it off with some espresso, of course.

My brother (Patrick) was in town from Washington D.C. this weekend, so Rich and I were able to spend a lot of time with him and the rest of the family. We hung out at all three of the locations that Aviator (a local brewery) calls home — the brewery itself, the taproom (their bar), and the smokehouse (their restaurant specializing in all things NC, like pulled pork and collard greens). I watched one of my friend’s cats while she was away this weekend.

Anyways, I’m really excited about my fitness and health goals for the month of March. And speaking of health goals, I’m curious about some of these farm-to-table produce delivery services? Or anything like NatureBox? Seems like a great idea, but I’d love to hear your thoughts and experiences if you have used a service like either of these. Now that I’m all 5K-ed up, I am going to try to run every other day. Who knows? Maybe there is a half-marathon in my future! I’d love to hear your fitness and wellness goals!
